The Saint Vincent men's soccer team fell to Washington & Jefferson College on the road by a score of 4-1 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference match.
A cross into the box in the sixth minute was put into the net by Zach Bowser, putting the hosts in front, 1-0.
SVC tied the game 12 minutes later, when
Cory Northrup sent a pass behind the defense, and
Roberto Fulweiler scored on the breakaway to tie the game. For Fulweiler, it was his third goal of the season.
However, the Presidents scored twice within 45 seconds late in the first half, to take over momentum and put the game out of reach. A second half W&J goal off a set-piece corner kick ended scoring on the day.Â
W&J held the advantage in shots for the day, 19-6, and in corner kicks, 8-2.Â
Zachary Gibbons took the loss in the net for SVC, making 9 saves.
Saint Vincent is now 1-9-2 on the season, 0-1-1 in the PAC. W&J improves to 4-6-2 overall, 1-0-1 in the conference. The Bearcats return to action on Wednesday, October 16, hosting Bethany College at 4PM.
