The Saint Vincent men's basketball team lost to crosstown rival Pitt-Greensburg in a non-conference matchup by a score of 87-69.

The Bobcats got off to a quick start, taking a 4-0 lead and forcing SVC into a timeout just 53 seconds into play.

Cletus Helton got Saint Vincent on the board less than a minute later with a spin move in the lane that led to a layup.

However, UPG soon went on a run, outscoring the Bearcats by a 7-0 margin to build a 15-4 lead at the 15:51 mark of the first half.  The Pitt lead grew to 13 just over a minute later, before a Drew Normandin layup cut the gap to 23-12 with 12:59 remaining.

At the 7:15 mark, UPG hit a three that increased their lead to 17 (37-20), and by halftime, the score was 52-33 in favor of the visitors.

A 5-point run by the Bearcats, capped by a fastbreak score by Andrew Reed off a Helton assist, made the score 56-41 at the 17-minute mark of the second half, but the Bobcats bounced back quickly, scoring the game's next five points to return the lead to 20.

Back-to-back three pointers by the Bobcats near the midway point of the second half increased the margin to 26 points, 76-50.

Toddy Goodwin gave the Bearcats a boost, scoring six straight points near the five-minute mark, making the score 84-62, but it wasn't enough, as UPG went on to an 18-point victory.

The Bearcats were led by Normandin, who scored 19 points, including a perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line.  Goodwin tallied 13 points off the bench, while Stephen and Helton tallied 10 points each.  Normandin was tops in rebounds with 7.

SVC is now 3-2 on the season, and will open Presidents' Athletic Conference play on Wednesday (November 20), traveling to Greenville to face Thiel College.
