The SVC women's bowling team battled NCAA-II Daemen College on the road in Buffalo, winning one and losing two in a closely-contested matchup.
In a traditional game, the Bearcats trailed by as many as 40 pins early, but battled back to take a 30-pin lead.
Morgan Barlock and
Olivia Emmonds each struck in frames 8 and 9 to put SVC in front, but the team suffered a pair of splits in the 10th frame, and lost the game by just one pin, 835-834. Barlock led the way with a 182, while Emmonds finished with a 174.
The format then changed to Baker team games. In the first game of a 5-game total series set, SVC was again plagued by splits, with three splits resulting in a 150 game, while Daemen took the early lead with a 157. In game two, SVC took the early lead on a triple by Barock,
Jessica Guesman and Emmonds, then cruised to a 213-138 win, taking a 68-pin lead in the series. Daemen returned the favor in games three and four, winning 175-140, and 195-154. The Bearcats trailed by six pins going into the last game, but Guesman,
Dani Koehler and
Kayla Grudinsky all struck in frames 4-6, as SVC won 227-155, taking the point by a margin of 884-818.
The final point of the day was contested in another five-game Baker total series. Saint Vincent won the first three games by scores of 163-156, 171-161 and 218-200, taking a 35-pin lead into game four. However, the Wildcats won the fourth game 192-159, as SVC left five splits in 10 frames. The Bearcats held a 2-pin advantage going into the final game, but lost by a score of 196-180, losing the series 905-891.
Saint Vincent was led in Baker play by Koehler, with a per-frame average of 19.95, a game equivalent of 199.5. She was followed closely by Grudinsky (19.92). Guesman finished the Bakers with an average of 19.03, while
Mercedes Belch averaged 17.07.
The Bearcats are now 24-4 on the season and will host La Roche University on Thursday, December 5 at Hillview Lanes. The match will begin at 6:00.
