SVC takes two of three at Ursuline

The Saint Vincent women's bowling team suffered its first loss of the season, but fought back with a pair of wins to end the day 2-1 in a dual match at Ursuline College in Wickliffe, Ohio.

SVC trailed by as many as 40 pins late in game one before fighting back into the game, only to lose by three total pins, 774-771.  Meghan Christman had a team-high 179, while Morgan Barlock finished with a 174.

In game two, scores dropped for both teams, but SVC recovered from an early deficit to tie the match in the 7th frame, eventually gaining a late lead and winning by 12 pins, 702-690.

The final point was determined by a best-of-seven Baker set, and SVC got off to a quick start, winning the first three games.  Ursuline then kept the match alive with a win in game four.  SVC saved its best for game four, shooting a 180, but the Arrows finished the game with 7 consecutive strikes for a 224, making it a 3-2 score.  The Bearcats then came back for a 166-150 victory in game six, winning the point.

Jessica Guesman led the way in Bakers with a per-frame average of 17.5 (game equivalent of 175), while Christman finished at 16.7 and Mercedes Belch at 16.4.

The Bearcats are now 11-1 on the season, and will now prepare for their home opener on Sunday, November 10, as the team hosts Pitt-Bradford at 12 noon at Hillview Lanes in Greensburg.
