The Saint Vincent men's tennis team lost its 2019 opener to Juniata College by a score of 7-2 in non-conference action.Â
Juniata captured the first two points of the match at second and third doubles to take a 2-0 lead. The Bearcats got on the board at the first doubles with an 8-5 win by
Jon Oskin and
Ryan Hartz to close out doubles play down, 2-1.
The Golden Eagles were too much to overcome in singles as they cruised to straight sets victories at first through fifth singles. Saint Vincent was able to salvage the sixth singles point with a 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 victory by
Riley Maruca.
The loss drops the Bearcats' record to 0-1 on the year. Saint Vincent will be back in action on Saturday, March 2 at noon when they take on Waynesburg in a non-conference match to open up its spring break trip. Â
