POST GAME INTERVIEW
The Saint Vincent women's basketball team traveled to Crestview Hills, Ky. for the first round of the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship. The Bearcats took on the top-seeded, #1 Thomas More Saints and fell 79-54.

The Saints opened the game on a 6-0 run that lasted until the 6:31 mark when
Jenna Lafko made a left-corner three. Thomas More responded with a 7-0 run but
Madison Kollar halted the run with a baseline jumper.

Bri Van Volkenburg found herself on the end of a
Maria Morgan fast break pass. Van Volkenburg made the layup and drew a foul. After missing the free throw, the Bearcats stole the ball away and
Taylor Boring hit a transition three to bring the game within one, 13-12.

On the next, Saint Vincent possession, Lafko drove the left lane and gave the Bearcats their first lead of the game, 14-13. The Saints scored the last two baskets of the quarter and led 17-14.

Thomas More opened the scoring in the second with the first two baskets until Morgan buried a three-pointer from the left wing to cut the lead to four, 21-17 at the media timeout with 4:50 left in the first half.

Paige Montrose and
Carlee Kilgus converted on consecutive layups to tie the game. After the Saints regained the lead, Morgan hit a 25-foot three-point to give Saint Vincent its second lead of the game, 24-23Â with 2:43 remaining in the second period.

Thomas More made the final two buckets of the half and led going into the locker room 27-24. Morgan led Saint Vincent with six points; Lafko finished the half with five. The Bearcats forced the Saints to turnover the ball 15 times while collecting 11 steals.

Both teams traded scores to open the second half when Morgan made a layup to take a 32-31 with 8:29 left in the third. After losing the lead, Kollar hit her first three of the game to go up 35-33.

Thomas More scored 10 consecutive points when Kollar stopped the run at the 4:46 mark in the third. The Saints then scored nine-straight until Kollar again made a layup. Kilgus then converted two free throws and trailed going to the fourth, 52-41.

In the final period of regulation, the teams exchanged two points as Thomas More scored the next seven. At the media timeout with 6:42 remaining in the fourth, Thomas More led 61-43.

Out of the timeout, Kollar made a three from the top of the arch to make it 61-46. The Saints went on its largest run of the night of 12 points until the 3:11 mark as Lafko made layup and drew a foul. She converted on the three-point play as the Bearcats trailed 73-49. Thomas More closed out the game and won by the 25-point margin. Kollar led the Bearcats with 17 points while Morgan and Lafko each added 11 points.

Saint Vincent finishes the season 23-5, its highest win total since the 2010-11 season.Â
