The Saint Vincent men's tennis team earned a non-conference win against Norwich (VT) University by a score of 8-1.
The Bearcats swept through doubles play led by Jon Oskin and Ryan Hartz 8-1 victory at first doubles. Zach Fox and Alex DeLuca came back from a 5-2Â deficit to win second doubles 8-5, and put Saint Vincent up 2-0. Â Josh Boland and Riley Maruca finished off the Cadets at third doubles in thrilling fashion by an 8-7(4) score.
Fox got the ball rolling in singles with a straight sets victory at third singles to extend the Bearcats' lead to 4-0. Boland put the finishing touches on the match for Saint Vincent with an impressive 6-0, 6-0 win at sixth singles. Also winning in singles were Mauricio Sanchez, Maruca, and DeLuca at first, fourth and fifth singles, respectively.
With the win Saint Vincent sits at 3-1 on the year. The Bearcats will be back in action on Tuesday, March 19 when they face off with crosstown rival, Pitt-Greensburg. The match will begin at 7:30 PM at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
