The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team opened the 2019 season against Juniata College. The Bearcats fell in the home opener, 10-5.

The Eagles opened the scoring just 35 seconds into the game. Saint Vincent answered as
Joey Smith scored an unassisted goal to tie the game at one.

Julianne Rosa gave the Bearcats the lead at the 10:52 mark in the first thanks to a pass by
Maura Hevey.Â

Juniata tied the game at two with 6:20 remaining in the opening half and was the last goal of the first half. Unfortunately, it was the last time Saint Vincent held the lead.

In the second half, Juniata scored early and often. The Eagles netted four goals in the first 19 minutes. Juniata scored once more with 11:33 on the clock to extend its lead to 7-2.

The Bearcats tallied its first goal of the second as
Rachel Belles scored off a Smith pass. Juniata answered just 20 seconds later to regain the five-goal lead, 8-3.

Naomi Schwaiger gathered her first goal of the season to bring the game to 8-4 with 6:18 on the clock. Smith picked up her second helper of the game.

The Eagles responded once again, this time a man-up and pushed the lead back to five.Â

Kami Davis gave Saint Vincent its fifth goal of the game, but Juniata scored the final goal of the game with 2:27 remaining and held on for the 10-5 victory.

Smith led the Bearcats with the one goal and two assists.
Grace Schneider started in goal and made 12 saves on 22 shots faced.
