The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse completed its two-day trip against Marietta College. The Bearcats fell in a close contest to the Pioneers 15-14.

Marietta scored early and often by netting five goals in the first five minutes of the game.

Saint Vincent broke the drought as
Rachel Belles scored at the 23:47 mark in the first.
Kami Davis netted a follow up goal two minutes later as the Bearcats trailed by three, 5-2.

Just 1:09 later,
Naomi Schwaiger brought the game within two as she scored her third of the season.

The Pioneers increased their lead back to three but Saint Vincent responded right back.
Â
Kami Davis scored with 17:10 to go in the first.
Joey Smith collected her second assist of the game. Less than 30 seconds later,
Courtney Kloos scored and pulled the Bearcats within one, 6-5.

After Marietta scored again, Belles netted her second of the game and kept it within one, 7-6.

The Pioneers rattled off three-straight and led 10-6 going into the final minutes of the first half.

Saint Vincent battled back once more as Schwaiger scored two goals in the final 70 seconds of the first half. Marietta still held the edge going into halftime, 10-8.

To start the second half, Kloos netted her second of the game. Schwaiger completed the hat trick and tied the game at 10.

The Pioneers regained the lead with 21 minutes remaining in regulation.

However, Schwaiger had different plans and scored two more goals to give Saint Vincent its first lead of the game, 12-11.

After trailing for the first time in the match, Marietta recaptured the lead. The Pioneers scored four-consecutive goals and took a 15-12 lead.

Schwaiger score her seventh goal of the game with 8:22 left on the clock. Kloos scored in a man-up situation with 4:51 to go. Unfortunately, this was the last goal for the Bearcats as they fell by the 15-14 final.

Schwaiger collected seven points, all from goals. Kloos finished the game with three goals and Smith picked up three helpers.
Sam Mooney started in net for Marietta but it was Maddie Lears who picked up the win. Lears replaced Mooney at half time.

Grace Schneider started for Saint Vincent and went all 60 minutes making nine saves in net.

SVC falls to 0-3 and will open Presidents' Athletic Conference play on the road as it travels to Westminster on Friday, March 29. Game time is 5:30 p.m.
