The Saint Vincent men's tennis team claimed its sixth straight win, a 7-2 Presidents' Athletic Conference victory over visiting Westminster College in a match held at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
In doubles action, Zach Fox and Mauricio Sanchez claimed an 8-2 win at second doubles. Jon Oskin and Ryan Hartz bookended their match with breaks of serve to win 8-5 in the first spot. Alex DeLuca and Josh Boland dropped a hard fought 8-7 (3) decision at third doubles to make the score 2-1 heading into singles play.
The Bearcats and Titans traded blows to open singles play with Fox cruising to a 6-2, 6-0 win at four before Oskin dropped a straight sets decision at first singles. Hartz used the strength of his serve to claim the third singles point, 6-3, 6-3, and put Saint Vincent up 4-2. Sanchez clinched the match for the second day in a row with a 6-3, 6-3 win at second singles. DeLuca and Boland bounced back from their doubles loss with straight sets victories at fifth and sixth singles respectively.
Saint Vincent's record now sits at 6-1 (2-0 PAC) on the year. The Bearcats will be back in action Tuesday, April 2 when they take on perennial PAC power, Grove City. Match time is set for noon.
