The Saint Vincent men's tennis won the annual Green Match against the Bethany Bison by a score of 7-2.
The Bearcats opened doubles play with 8-3 wins by
Alex DeLuca and
Josh Boland at third doubles and
Zach Fox and
Mauricio Sanchez at second doubles. After dropping the first doubles point in a tiebreaker SVC took a 2-1 lead into singles.
Saint Vincent extended the lead to three with a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles by Fox and a 6-0, 6-1 win by Boland at six. DeLuca rolled to a 6-2 first set win before battling for a 7-5 second set to clinch the match at fifth singles. Also winning in singles for the Bearcats was Oskin at first singles, 6-4, 6-4, and Sanchez at second singles, 4-6, 7-6(5), 10-8.
The victory pushed Saint Vincent's record to 10-3 (4-2 PAC) on the year. The Bearcats will be back in action on Wednesday, April 17 for their regular season finale against PAC foe Waynesburg. The match is set to begin at 1:00 PM at the Greensburg Racquet Club.
