Tanner Yard hit a home run to lead off the game, but it would prove to be the Bearcats' lone run in a 4-1 loss on the road at Bethany College.
Yard's first inning shot held up as the game's only run until the bottom of the sixth, when the Bison finally got a run off SVC starter
Tom Bash. Â
Ben Davis came on in relief and struck out the last batter to end the threat, keeping the score at 1-1 through six innings.
However, the hosts added a pair of runs in the 7th and a solo home run in the 8th, while the Bearcats were held to just seven hits overall in the game.
Bash worked 5.2 innings, giving up 9 hits but only one run while striking out three. Davis (0-2) took the loss in relief. Â Offensively, Yard had three hits.
SVC is now 12-8 overall, 5-3 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Â The team will be back in action on Thursday, traveling to Greenville to face Thiel College in a 9-inning game.Â
