The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team hosted Washington and Jefferson College for a Presidents' Athletic Conference match. After a tightly contested first half, the Bearcats fell 14-6.

The Presidents scored the opening goal a little over a minute into the game.Â

The Bearcats tied the game as
Naomi Schwaiger scored her 13th of the season with an assist from
Joey Smith. SVC then took the led as
Julianne Rosa scored at the 24-minute mark. The goal-streak was extended to three when
Calsey Holshue scored her first of the season and gave the Bearcats a 3-1 lead.

W&J scored three consecutive goals of its own from 19:52 to 17:33 and regained the lead, 4-3.

Saint Vincent answered as
Rachel Belles scored off a Smith assist to tie the game at four. With 11:08 to go, Smith netted a goal and gave the lead back to the Bearcats.

The Presidents scored the final three goals of the first half and led 7-5 going to the 10-minute break.Â

W&J extended its lead to three (8-5) when it scored the first goal in the second half.

Maura Hevey pulled the Bearcats back within two as she scored her second goal of the season with 23:05 remaining in regulation.

However, Saint Vincent did not score the remainder of the game as the Presidents went on to score the last six goals and won 14-6.Â

Smith led the Bearcats as she tailed one goal and three assists.
Maria Franey started in net for SVC and made 13 saves on 27 shots.

Sara Maute started in goal for the Presidents and picked up the win.

Saint Vincent, 0-6 and 0-2, will travel to Bethany College on Thursday, April 11. Game time is 4:00 p.m.
