The Mount Aloysius College Mounties defeated the SVC men's soccer team by a score of 6-1 in the season opener at UPMC Field.

SVC defender Sebastian Lambert saved two potential goals in the opening three minutes, part of a 20-shot, 15-shot-on goal performance by the Mountie offense.  Just over 8 minutes into the game, SVC freshman keeper Zachary Gibbons made a stellar save of a blast by Mount Al's Nick Anagnostiadis, despite being screened from the shot.

In the 16th minute, the Bearcats were fouled inside the box, and Roberto Fulweiler gave SVC a 1-0 lead on a penalty kick.

Just under 12 minutes later, Mount Al's Pau Aran tied the game, and the visitors then tallied two more goals in the next four minutes to take a 3-1 lead.  Aran assisted on the second goal, setting up teammate Luke Bicanic, then Aran scored his second goal of the game in the 33rd minute to extend the lead.

At the half, the Mounties were in front 4-1 and added a pair of second half goals to secure the win.

Gibbons took the loss in the net, recording six saves.  The Bearcats had 8 shots for the game, three on goal.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Sunday, September 1, hosting Shenandoah University at 1PM at UPMC Field.
