Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

SVC, Muskingum battle to tie in Ohio

The Saint Vincent men's soccer team battled the Fighting Muskies of Muskingum University to a 2-2, double-overtime tie on the road in Ohio.

SVC freshman Callum Babbs got the Bearcats on the board in the 20th minute, taking a pass from Cris White and putting SVC in front, 1-0.  Babbs struck again, less than three minutes later, to double the lead to 2-0.  Brandon Lowe had the assist.

Just 54 seconds later, the lead was cut in half, as Adam Fox scored for the hosts.  Both teams then played well defensively for the final 22 minutes of the half, as the teams went into the locker room with the Bearcats in front, 2-1.  Each team registered six shots in the first half.

Muskingum took control of the game in the second half, and tied the score on a long shot by Jeremiah Kusi in the 61st minute.  For the half, the Fighting Muskies outshot SVC, 9-2, but Kusi's shot was the only one to find the net, and regulation ended with a score of 2-2.

The teams then played two 10-minute overtime periods, and the defensive war continued, with the Bearcats recording the lone shot of extended time.  After 110 total minutes of play, the game officially ended as a 2-2 tie.  Zachary Gibbons worked all 110 minutes in the net, making two saves.

SVC is now 1-8-1 on the season, while Muskingum is now 6-2-1.  The Bearcats will now prepare for their conference opener against Chatham University on Sunday, October 6 at UPMC Field.  The Senior Day game will begin at 2PM.
