The Saint Vincent Bearcats welcomed Westminster College for their Senior Day meet. After celebrating the careers of five seniors, both teams battled it out in a competition that found the Bearcat men dropping to the Titans 160-133, while the Bearcat women were victorious with a final score of 167-127. The men are now 3-2 in PAC competitions and the women are 4-1.
Despite coming up short, the Bearcat men still put on several noteworthy performances. Among individual events,
Zach Baum won the 100 Back (53.21), 50 Free (21.79), and the 100 Free (48.61).
John Martin was also triumphant in both the 100 and 200 Breast events, finishing with times of 1:02.24 and a 2:17.95, respectively. Finally,
Ethan Yant claimed first place in the 100 Fly, hitting the wall at 55.43.
In the 200 Free Relay,
Danny Whirlow, Yant,
Kris Smith, and Baum won with a time of 1:28.07.
The Bearcat women opened with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay, with the quartet of
Lauren Connors,
Sara Basala,
Katie Kozy, and
Cara Luallen clocking in at 1:52.70.
Connors would return to the top in the 100 Back (1:01.12), the 200 Back (2:14.43), and the 200 IM (2:17.60). Kozy followed suit, winning the 100 Fly at 59.97.
In both the 200 and 500 Free,
Marion D'Aurora claimed victory with a 2:01.72 and a 5:31.90, respectively.
Lauren Krecota won the 1000 Free with a time of 11:35.93 and then she won the 200 Fly with a 2:18.79.
Senior
Claire Kenna made the most of her final dual meet in Resnik Pool, winning the 50 Free (25.07) and the 100 Free (55.84).
The women closed the meet with a win as
Erica Steele, Luallen, Kozy, and Kenna conquered the 200 Free with a time of 1:40.73.
The Bearcats' final dual meet of the season will occur on Saturday, Feb. 1 at Penn State-Behrend. The meet will begin at 1 pm.
