The Saint Vincent men's volleyball team made the trip to Philippi, West Virginia to take on Alderson Broaddus. The Bearcats fell in straight sets, 3-0.
In the first two sets, Saint Vincent lost by the same score, 25-15. In the third set, SVC made things interesting with the Battlers. The hosts opened the set with a 3-1 lead but the Bearcats tied it at three with a kill from
Mitchell Niderstros. Trailing 11-9, Saint Vincent won four of the next five points to take a 13-12 edge. AB came back to lead by one (17-16) but SVC rattled off four-straight points to lead 20-17.
The Battlers evened the set once again, this time at 20. The Bearcats won four of the next six points and was a single point away from winning the set. Alderson Broaddus answered by winning the next three points to go ahead 25-24. SVC tied the set at 25 but the Battlers won the final two points to win the set 27-25 and the match, 3-0.
Niderstros led the team with 13 kills while
Gage McCracken had 10.
Matthew Furrer totaled 22 assists on the day while McCracken also tallied 11 digs.
Saint Vincent (0-12) will host Thiel College on Wednesday, March 11. Start time is 7 p.m.
