The Saint Vincent women's tennis team split its spring break double header at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
In the first match the Bearcats muscled out a 6-3 win over Muskingum University. SVC claimed two of the three doubles points with wins at first doubles, by
Maura Skelley and
Angela Popovich, and third doubles by
Maria Hoh and
Hannah Schilpp.
Skelley and Popovich double dipped in singles, both claiming straight sets victories at first and second singles respectively.
Lauren Hartner also claimed a straight sets win at fifth singles, 6-3, 6-2.
Abby Jo Stull secures the last point of the match, a 7-6(1), 6-7(3), 10-3 marathon at third singles.
Saint Vincent dropped their second match of the day against Ohio Northern by a score of 7-0. The match was contested with NCAA Division II rules, meaning no-ad scoring and condensed doubles scoring.
Ohio Northern claimed the doubles point by winning second and third doubles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0 respectively. Ohio Northern continued to roll in singles claiming all points in straight sets. The closest match of the day was at first singles where
Maura Skelley battled but fell, 6-3, 6-2.
Saint Vincent's record now stands at 10-6 on the year. The Bearcats will conclude the spring portion of their schedule with a home match against Pitt-Greensburg on Friday, March 13.
