WASHINGTON, Pa. - Ten minutes into the game is all it took for W&J to score what would be the only goal of the contest, as the Bearcats dropped a 1-0 decision to Washington & Jefferson on the road Wednesday evening.
The Presidents controlled much of the first half, out-shooting the Bearcats 9-5 and scoring the lone goal, by Nolan Agostini at the 10:55 mark.
It was a different story in the second half as the Bearcats controlled the ball in their offensive zone over the majority of the 45 minutes.. They out-shot the Presidents 10-5 in the half, but were unable to put any goals in the back of the net, ultimately giving the Presidents the 1-0 victory.
Thanks to the Bearcats' offensive pressure in the second half, they ended the evening with a 15-14 advantage in shot. Leo Iacovangelo, Cris White and Cory Northrup each had three shots apiece in the match to top SVC. Zach Gibbons played all 90 minutes in goal for Saint Vincent. He made three saves, while allowing the lone goal for W&J.
The Bearcats will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 9, when they travel to Steubenville, Ohio, to take on Franciscan University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
