The Saint Vincent women's bowling team opened the home portion of the 2021 schedule with a 3-0 sweep over Pitt-Greensburg in a match held at Lincoln Lanes in Latrobe. For UPG, it was the first-ever appearance on the lanes for the brand new program.
In game one,
Jessica Guesman started with a triple and went on to lead SVC to a 960-645 victory, finishing with a 215.
Dani Koehler threw 5 strikes in a row in frames 5-9 en route to a 214 game.
Jackie Koehler (193),
Monique Koehler (180) and
Olivia Emmonds (158) completed the scoring for the Bearcats.
In the second traditional game, it was
Dani Koehler that started with a triple, finishing with a team-best 199 as SVC defeated UPG by a score of 881-701. Guesman and
Kaitlyn Morrison each shot 181, while
Abby Kyle (161) and
Jackie Koehler (159) rounded out the scoring.
The final point of the day was a five-game Baker (team) event. Saint Vincent captured the first game, 176-149, as
Dani Koehler threw all three strikes in the 10th frame. In game two, Emmonds and Morrison doubled in frames 3 and 4, then Koehler struck twice in the 10th as SVC posted a 205-152 win to extend the lead. SVC won all five games and the total, with a score of 880, while the Bobcats finished at 676.
In Baker competition,
Dani Koehler led the way with a per-frame average of 21.1, a game equivalent of 211.
Monique Koehler finished at 20.0, while sophomore
Anna Tatham had a strong showing at 17.7.
For the day, Saint Vincent averaged a solid 181.4, as the team improved to 5-1 on the season. The Bearcats will return to action in the second Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference round-robin event on March 6 in Erie.
