Jenna Lafko led the way for Saint Vincent (9-0) in their victory over Westminster (6-5) in the semifinal for the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament. The Bearcats used a third period run to win the game 72-55 and advance to the PAC Championship.
To start the game, Westminster started out strong, rushing out to a 11-4 lead. Saint Vincent battled back and cut the deficit to three at the start of the second quarter. The Titans extended their lead to seven at the beginning of the quarter. The Bearcats then went on a tear scoring 21 of the next 27 points.
Carlee Kilgus had a layup to give the Bearcats the lead. Saint Vincent led at the half by a score of 36-28.
To start the half, Westminster caught fire, scoring 13 unanswered points to take a five-point lead (41-36). The Bearcats quickly took the lead back (42-41) after a shot from
Madison Weber. Saint Vincent then went on a 17-point run taking a commanding 11-point lead. The Titans hit a few shots before the end of the quarter to make it a 53-46 Bearcat lead.
After a close beginning of the fourth quarter, the Bearcats started to pile on the points. They scored 15 of the next 18 points to close out the game. Saint Vincent claimed this victory by a score of 72-55.
Lafko finished with a game-high 20 points while grabbing eight rebounds and talling six steals.
Emily Cavacini added 12 points while seven other Bearcats made their way on the score sheet.
Saint Vincent will now host the PAC Championship game on Saturday at 6 p.m. The team will face the winner of Washington & Jefferson and Grove City.
