In its Presidents' Athletic Conference home opener, the Saint Vincent women's tennis team won a 6-3 matchup against the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets.
Lauren Hartner and
Maria Hoh teamed up to put SVC on the board first with an 8-0 win at third doubles. Waynesburg drew even with an 8-2 decision in the second spot before
Maura Skelley and
Angela Popovich gave the Bearcats a 2-1 lead at the end of doubles.

Hartner cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 win at fifth singles to extend the lead to 3-1 for Saint Vincent. The Yellow Jackets evened the match again with wins at third and sixth singles, both in straight sets. Hoh claimed the fourth singles point, 6-3, 6-1, to push the Bearcats back ahead before Popovich sealed the match with a win at second singles that included a first set comeback from down 4-0 to win 7-6(3), 6-0. Skelley rounded out the day for SVC with a 6-1, 7-5 win at the top singles spot.

With the win Saint Vincent moves to 1-1 (1-1 PAC) on the season. The Bearcats will return to play after Easter Break, with a road trip to face Grove City. The match is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start on Tuesday, April 6.
