The Saint Vincent College football team hosted the Washington and Jefferson Presidents. The Bearcats were defeated by the Presidents by a score of 42-14.

The Bearcats (1-2, 1-2) won the toss and elected to differ to the second half, putting their defense on the field first. On the fourth play of the game, the Presidents (3-0, 3-0) struck first as Justin Heacock connected with Nate Sciarro on a 63-yard touchdown, and a successful point after attempt made the score 7-0.

The Bearcats first drive started with a four-yard rush by
Mike Stasko, followed by a ten-yard pass that picked a first down from
Brady Walker to
Keith Kalp. After the chains were moved, a five-yard false start penalty backed the Bearcats up and the drive stalled, forcing a Saint Vincent punt.

Both the Presidents and Bearcats following drives ended in punts, as neither team got much going on those possessions.

After the Saint Vincent punt, W&J started the drive at its own 40-yard line. Three rushes from Presidents running back, Joey Koroly picked up a chunk of yards, W&J was set up at the Bearcats 23-yard line.

A penalty backed W&J up 15 yards, but a couple runs from Koroly put the Presidents at the SVC 17-yard line. Heacock found Andrew Wolf for a 17-yard touchdown with a successful point after try, making the score 14-0 Presidents.

To start the second quarter, W&J drove the ball down to the Saint Vincent 49-yard line. The Bearcats defense forced a fourth down and five yards to go and as the Presidents attempted to go for it, when
Gianni Gonzalez hit the running back, Koroly for one-yard loss, forcing a turnover on downs.

Saint Vincent took the ball and drove down to the Presidents 17-yard line, after a couple of chunk plays, including a beautiful 33-yard reception by
Phil Harding. W&J shut down the Bearcats offense and forced a field goal attempt. The Bearcats missed the field goal wide left, giving the ball back to the Presidents.

The Presidents used a 17-play drive to get on the board once again. Koroly rushed in for a 30-yard score, but it would be called back due to an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. The Bearcats defense came up with a couple big plays, with back to back sacks from a combination of
Cam Norris and
Andrew Deaton on the first one, and
Kevin Childress on the second one.

W&J was faced with a fourth down and long after the back to back sacks. After a Presidents timeout, Heacock found Payton Skalos for a 29-yard touchdown pass, followed by a successful point after attempt, increasing the Washington and Jefferson lead to 21-0 with just 2:09 left in the first half.

The Saint Vincent offense ran out of time in the first half, as the Presidents took a 21-0 lead into the half.

The Bearcats responded with a strong start to the second half as they went six plays in just 2:25, which ended with a 29-yard rushing touchdown from
Kaelib McElroy.

The next couple drives stalled out for both teams and after a
Jared Gonzalez punt, Presidents had the ball back, starting at midfield. The Presidents took advantage of the short field, scoring on a Heacock 12-yard pass to Koroly, with just 1:38 remaining in the third quarter.

The Bearcats ensuing possession ended in a punt and W&J had the ball to start the fourth quarter. On the first play of the fourth quarter, Koroly rushed it in from 15 yards out, scoring his third touchdown of the game, increasing the Presidents lead to 35-7.

On the ensuing possession for the Bearcats, they turned it over on downs. W&J picked up a few chunk plays before they went in to score once again. This time, Colton Jones hooked up with T.J. Troxell on a 36-yard pass, followed by a successful extra point, making the lead 42-7.

After a Bearcats fumble on the ensuing kickoff and a Washington and Jefferson turnover on downs, the Bearcats had the ball at their own 24-yard line. A 16-yard Walker pass to Stasko and 14-yard rush for Stasko put the Bearcats into W&J territory.

Walker completed a 19-yard pass to Harding, followed by two Washington and Jefferson penalties, had Saint Vincent inside the Presidents' 20-yard line. That's when Walker found
Andre Dixon running across the end zone for a 13-yard touchdown, making the score 42-14.

The Presidents ran out the rest of the clock and won the game 42-14.

Walker went 14-28 for 165 yards and a touchdown for the Bearcats. Stasko had 14 carries for 68 yards and
Phil Harding caught four passes for 79 yards.

Saint Vincent finished with 265 yards of total offense, 165 passing yards and 100 rushing yards. The Presidents had 538 total yards of offense, 315 through the air and 224 on the ground.

The Bearcats remain home and will host Waynesburg University at Chuck Noll Field on Saturday, April 17. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
