The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse team faced Washington & Jefferson in a Presidents' Athletic Conference game. The Bearcats fell to the Presidents, 18-5.
Washington & Jefferson (7-0, 5-0) opened the scoring 1:02 into the game but Saint Vincent (5-4, 2-2) responded with a goal from
Hannah-Marie Starner off the pass from
Joey Smith.
Lucy Volna gave the Bearcats a 2-1 lead with helper from Smith. However, it was the last time SVC held the edge.
The Presidents scored six unanswered goals to lead 7-2. Volna added another with 9:18 left in the first half but W&J scored three more times to lead 10-3 at the break.
In the second half, W&J kept its pressure up by scoring eight goals with goals from
Emily Taylor and Volna mixed in.
Volna scored three goals while totaled four assists.
Kyra Lipetzky made 16 saves in the game.
Saint Vincent travels to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for a PAC matchup with Chatham University on Thursday, April 22. Start time is 7:30 p.m.
