The Saint Vincent softball team hosted a double header with the Grove City Wolverines. The Bearcats split the double header, losing game one 4-2 and winning game two 7-6 in nine innings.
Game 1- Grove City 4, Saint Vincent 2
Grove City started off the game strong as they scored two first inning runs, giving them an early lead. Both teams were then held scoreless through the next two innings, before Grove City put another run across the plate in the top of the third extending their lead to 3-0.

The pitcher's duel between the Bearcats and Wolverines continued, as both teams were held scoreless through the next two innings. Grove City plated another run in the top of the sixth giving them a 4-0 advantage.

In the bottom half of the sixth, SVC tried to rally back into the game.
Jessica Persin led off the inning for the Bearcats with a double.
Abbey Ginter followed Persin's hit with an RBI double of her own, putting the Bearcats on the board, making the score 4-1.

Ginter advanced to third on a single by
Kelsey Tobin, and the Bearcats had runners on first and third with one out. The Bearcats rally ended on a double play, ending the scoring threat and keeping the score at 4-1 heading to the seventh.

In the top half of the seventh the Bearcats set down the Wolverines in order. Â In the bottom of the seventh, after a flyout to start the inning,
Monica Gourley reached on an error and advanced to second.

After a groundout, the Bearcats had a runner on third down to their final out.
Shae Robson singled through the right-side scoring Gourley, making the score 4-2 and putting the tying run at the plate. The game ended on a flyout, as the Wolverines took game one by a final score of 4-2.

Robson led the Bearcats at the top of the lineup with two hits and a RBI. Hailey Bicko took the loss on the mound going seven innings, giving up four runs (three earned), five hits, and struck out two.

Game 2Â - Saint Vincent 7, Grove City 6 (9 Inn.)
In the first two innings, each team was held scoreless. Grove City scored the first run of the game in the top half of the third, giving them a 1-0 lead, but that's all they would get in the inning.

The Bearcats responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning. Hannah Pavsek led off the inning with an infield single. Robson put down a sacrifice bunt, which advanced Pavsek to third base. Pavsek scored to tie the game on an error by the shortstop (1-1).

Ginter doubled to right advancing Tobin, who reached on the error to third base. After a groundout,
Alexandra Dillner added a two-RBI triple to right center scoring both Ginter and Tobin. The third inning ended with a groundout, but the Bearcats maintained a 3-1 lead.

Both teams were held scoreless in the fourth inning, keeping the score 3-1 in favor of Saint Vincent. The Wolverines scored three runs in the top of the fifth, giving them the lead back at 4-3.

The Bearcats responded with three runs of their own in the bottom half of the fifth. The Bearcats had runners on second and third with no outs after a Tobin single and Ginter double.
Mallory Halleck tied the game up with an RBI single to left center, scoring Tobin (4-4).

After a groundout, the big inning for Saint Vincent continued as the Bearcats regained the lead, with Persin reaching on error, scoring Ginter and advancing
Mackenzie Larimer to third (5-4). After a single by
Taylor LaVale, Gourley reached on a fielder's choice scoring Larimer, increasing the Saint Vincent lead to 6-4.

Both the Bearcats and Wolverines were held scoreless in the sixth inning. The Wolverines stayed alive scoring two runs of their own in the seventh inning (6-6). Dillner led off the bottom half of the seventh with a double to right center, but she was held there as the game headed to extra innings.

The Bearcats set Grove City down in order in the top of the eighth. Saint Vincent threatened in the bottom of the eighth as they had the winning run on third, but the runner was stranded as the game headed to the ninth inning.

Just as they were in the eighth, Grove City was set down in order in the top of the ninth. In the bottom of the ninth Persin led the inning off with a double to left, and advanced to third after a fly ball. Gourley won the game on ground ball fielder's choice, scoring Persin.

Dillner had three hits and two RBI's in the win for the Bearcats. Tobin, Ginter, Persin, and Pavsek all added two hits as well.
Riley Assalone picked up the win on the mound for Saint Vincent.
Saint Vincent (7-8-1, 1-1) travels to Franciscan University on Wednesday, April 7. First pitch is at 3:30 p.m.
