The Saint Vincent College women's volleyball team traveled to Steubenville, Ohio to face Franciscan University in the final Presidents' Athletic Conference match of the season. The Barons defeated the Bearcats in five sets, 3-2.
In the opening set against Franciscan, Saint Vincent (2-7, 2-7) started out with a 7-4 lead. The Barons (3-7, 3-6) added three straight points, tying the set at seven apiece. The next few points went back and forth as Saint Vincent led by six, 21-15. The Bearcats won the first set 25-18.
Saint Vincent held the six point lead over the Barons 8-2 to start the second set. SVC dominated by as many as 10 points in the second set, 16-6. The Bearcats took the second set from Franciscan, 25-19.
Saint Vincent started the third set on a roll, leading Franciscan 12-8. SVC stayed in the set as the two teams traded points when the Barons added five straight points, leading 20-19. Saint Vincent could not regain its momentum and ultimately fell in the third set to Franciscan 25-22.
The Barons scored a quick five points verses one by SVC to lead 5-1 in the fourth set. Saint Vincent slimmed down the lead trailing by four, 13-9. A kill by Caitlyn Figuly looked promising for the Bearcats to slim the lead down to one but Franciscan tallied the next two points. The Barons won the fourth set of the match to send the game into five sets, 25-23.
To start the fifth set, the points went back and forth as Franciscan led by two, 6-4. SVC slimmed the lead to one, 7-6, but could not get back into the match as Franciscan took the fifth set 15-11 and claimed the 3-2 victory.
Madison Reeping led the Bearcat attack with 12 kills and Becca Miller added seven. Madie Marsico tallied 25 digs and Luciana Polk notched 12 digs.
