LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 14) - The Saint Vincent men's swimming team kicked off 2022 a high note, earning its first win of the season in a dominant performance against conference rival Bethany College by a score of 137-47.
Aidan Gilson,
Tyler Overmier,
James Clark and
Noah Schollaert joined forces to kick off the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay, posting a 2:01.99.
Robert Harrington kicked off the individual events with his first of three victories on the night, posting a time of 11:22.06 in the 1000 freestyle. He went on to earn a season-best time in his 50 freestyle (24.44) and a 1:00.68 to win the 100 butterfly.
Chris Bush also left the meet with three individual wins, taking the 100 breaststroke (1:05.57), 100 freestyle (54.01) and 400 IM (4:40.20).
Schollaert also tallied a pair of wins, taking first for the Bearcats in the 200 backstroke and 200 butterfly, posting 2:32.38 and 2:22.24 respectively.
Overmier hit the wall first in the 200 breaststroke, touching at 2:46.00, before adding a second-place finish in the 100 breast 1:08.71.
Josh Ligus wrapped up the individual events for Saint Vincent with a win in the 500 freestyle, swimming a 5:24.99. He also took second in the 200 freestyle (2:02.06) and third in the 50 freestyle (27.49).
To close the meet, Overmier, Ligus, Schollaert and Harrington teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:39.84, out-touching Bethany's relay team by just over a half second after a tight race.
