LATROBE, Pa. (Jan. 14) - The Saint Vincent women's swimming team kicked off 2022 with a 209-18 win against Presidents' Athletic Conference rival Bethany College at a Friday night home meet at the Resnik Pool.
Kicking off the meet,
Sarah Alexander,
Madison Cassidy,
Elise Debrot and
Lauren Connors joined forces to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:03.93.
Senior
Lauren Krecota started off the individual events with a victory in the 1000 freestyle (12:02.36). Krecota went on to win the 400 IM with a 5:10.28.
Alexander took first in both the 200 and 500 freestyle, swimming a 2:06.07 and 5:31.78 respectively, while the 100 backstroke went to
Abby Leskovansky, who touched first with a time of 1:04.26.
Connors hit the wall first for the Bearcats in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:13.90, before placing second in the 500 freestyle (5:40.72).
Lily Holsey came out on top of two events, with wins in the 200 breaststroke (2:53.62) and 200 butterfly. She also added a third-place finish in the 400 IM with a 5:24.27.
Junior
Erica Steele claimed first for Saint Vincent in the 100 freestyle with a 25.51.
Sara Basala touched first in the 100 freestyle, hitting the wall at 1:03.34. She went on to take second in the 100 breaststroke with a 1:15.36.
Julia Mikita claimed first place in the 200 backstroke with a 2:25.06. She went on to swim a season best time in the 400 IM, taking second with a 5:16.61.
Madison Cassidy finished off the night with a win in the 100 butterfly, swimming a 1:12.74. She also swam the 50 freestyle, where she posted a season-best time of 28.18.
To close the meet,

Elyssa Bognar teamed up to take first in the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:51.60.
