PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Jan. 15) - The Saint Vincent women's swimming team traveled to conference rival Chatham University and earned its second victory of the weekend, topping the Cougars 184-89.
To kick off the meet,
Lauren Connors,
Sara Basala,
Lauren Krecota and
Erica Steele joined forces to take the 200 medley relay in a time of 1:58.30.
Freshman
Sarah Alexander started off the individual events on a bright note with a win in the 1650 freestyle (19:08.80). She would then go on to take second in the 100 freestyle with a 59.11.
Steele continued her meet with a win in the 200 freestyle, posting a 2:04.86, before placing third in the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:27.46. Â
Connors walked away from the meet with two individual victories, posting a 1:01.44 in the 100 backstroke and a 56.71 in the 100 freestyle.
Basala took both of the breaststroke events, taking the 100 breaststroke in a 1:13.55 and the 200Â in a 2:43.25. Basala went on to swim the 200 IM, where she took second with a 2:31.84.
Lauren Krecota hit the wall first for the Bearcats in the 200 butterfly, touching with a time of 2:29.95. She also won the 200 IM (2:31.45) and took third in the 1650 freestyle (20:16.57).
Abby Leskovansky was first to the wall in the 50 freestyle, posting a 25.66. Leskovansky also swam the 200 freestyle, where she took second with a 2:08.35.
Lily Holsey took the win in the 100 butterfly, swimming a 1:08.65. She went on to take third in the 200 IM with a 2:32.10.
To wrap up the afternoon of racing,
Julia Mikita,  Conners,  Leskovansky and  Steele teamed up to win the 200 freestyle relay with a 1:44.94.
The Bearcats, now 4-1 in conference duals, are back in action next Saturday, January 22, when they face conference rival Westminster College at a 1 p.m. home meet. The meet will be livestreamed at www.pacathletics.org/watch.
