PITTSBURGH, Pa. (Jan. 22) – The Saint Vincent College men's basketball team was defeated 77-41 by Chatham University in a Saturday night Presidents' Athletic Conference matchup.
The Bearcat offense struggled throughout against the PAC leaders, shooting just 33 percent from the field, including a 1-for-13 mark from behind the arc. Conversely, the Cougars shot 44 percent from the floor and connected on 12 three-point field goals.
Nelson Etuk scored 12 points to lead the Bearcats, while
Davon Jackson came off the bench to score six points. Etuk also accounted for all of Saint Vincent's output from the foul line, as he went 4-for-5.
Arguel Drotleff and
Diego Martinez shared the SVC team lead with five rebounds apiece, though the Cougars ended the evening with a 44-30 edge on the glass. The Cougar defense also recorded 16 steals and forced 20 SVC turnovers, which led directly to 29 points.
Martinez also led Saint Vincent (2-12, 1-7 PAC) with three assists, while Etuk recorded two of his team's five steals.
Chatham (10-1, 5-1) was led on the evening by Ben Pollock, who recorded a 19-point, 13-rebound double-double.
The Bearcats will now have a quick turnaround, as they'll look to snap a three-game losing streak when they travel to Bethany College on Monday, Jan. 24 for a 7:30 p.m. bout.
