WASHINGTON, Pa. (Jan. 29) – Host Washington & Jefferson fired on all cylinders to defeat Saint Vincent 87-53 in a Presidents' Athletic Conference contest at the Henry Memorial Center.
The Presidents jumped out to an 11-0 lead and never looked back, as they shot 56 percent from the field and connected on 11 of 21 three-point attempts on the afternoon, while leading for the entire 40 minutes.
Ella Marconi led Saint Vincent with 11 points, going 4-for-6 from the field, while also grabbing a team-leading six rebounds and blocking three shots.
Anna Betz came off the bench to score nine points, accounting for all three of her team's three-point field goals, while
Lizzie Bender scored eight points.
Emily Cavacini snared a game-high four steals, while teammate
Diana Mosten dished five assists.
The Bearcat offense was held in check by the Presidents, as SVC shot just 36 percent from the field (20-for-55) and 20 percent from behind the arc (3-for-15), while committing 21 turnovers which led to 24 W&J points. The Presidents out-rebounded the Bearcats 37-20.
Piper Morningstar led three Presidents players in double figures with 18 points, while teammate Meghan Dryburgh recorded a 16-point, 10-rebound double-double.
The Bearcats will return to action on Monday, Jan. 31, when they will look to snap a four-game losing streak when they take on PAC foe Franciscan University at 6 p.m. in Steubenville, Ohio.
