LANSING, Mich. (Oct. 1) – Led by an impressive performance from freshman
Miranda Cincotta, the Saint Vincent women's cross country team took on a loaded field at the NCAA Division III Pre-National Meet, hosted by Olivet College.
Cincotta recorded a 6K time of 23:10 to place 43rd overall in a field of 316 runners.
Competing in a 35-team field that boasted 10 squads ranked in the USTFCCCA national poll, the Bearcats placed 25th.
Freshman
Lily Murphy was SVC's second finisher, posting a time of 24:32 to place 141st, with classmate
Cassy Lanza placing 156th in a time of 24:43. The Bearcats' scoring five was rounded out by junior
Lauren Brennan, who turned in a time of 25:03, and junior
Joy Pontzer, who was clocked in 27:42.
Grace Scoville covered the course in 28:38,
Laura Heinzeroth in 30:31 and
Ruth Milne in 32:13.
Fueled by four runners who placed in the top 18, University of Chicago, ranked No. 3 in the latest national poll, won the team championship. Kassie Parker of Loras was the individual champ, posting a time of 20:31 to win by a nearly three-minute margin.
Saint Vincent will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 15, traveling to Ohio to take part in the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College.
