LATROBE, Pa (Oct. 22)- In their first meet of the season, the Saint Vincent men's swimming team defeated Penn State-Altoona in a non-conference match, by a score of 150-108. The Bearcats won 11 of the 14 events on the afternoon.

SVC won the first five events of the afternoon. In the 200-yard medley relay team, the quartet of
Jacob Dzurica,
Kris Smith,
Colin Spehar, and
Alex Leskovansky took home the win for the Bearcats, finishing with a time of 1:41.16.

Nicholas Jackman recorded the win for Saint Vincent in the 1000-yard freestyle event. Jackman swam a time of 10:33.01, 39-seconds faster than the second-place finisher from Penn State-Altoona.
Jacob Bacasa finished in third in the event, swimming a time of 11:14.94. Jackman also recorded a first-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle, racing a time of 5:04.73, seven seconds faster than the second place finisher from the Lions.

In the 200-yard freestyle Smith added to his win in the 200-yard medley, winning the 200 free. He swam a time of 1:50.25 in route to the win for SVC. Smith also won the 100-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 49.33 and the 100-yard butterfly, swimming a time of 54.77.

Dzurica also added to his solid afternoon, scoring a win in the 100-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 53.90 seconds.
Anton Seifert finished in third in the event, swimming a time of 1:01.48. Dzurica also won the 200-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 2:04.59.

Chris Bush finished in first place in the 100-yard breaststroke event, finishing with a time of 1:03.52. The only other Bearcats in the event was
Donovan Humberger, who finished in fourth place with a time of 1:13.19.

Bush also recorded a first-place finish in the 200-yard breaststroke, racing a time of 2:20.99, three seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Penn State-Altoona, while also winning the 200-yard IM, swimming a time of 2:08.77.

In the 50-yard freestyle the Bearcats had second and third place finishers. Leskovansky finished in the third with a time of 23.15, while teammate,
Hayden Klein finished in third with a time of 24.39.

The relay team of
Robert Harrington, Dzurica, Klein, and Leskovansky finished in second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, which was the last event of the day. The quartet swam a time of 1:33.34, just over one second behind the first-place relay team of the Lions.

Saint Vincent returns to action on Friday, October 28 when they travel to Meadville to take on Allegheny in a PAC meet. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Allegheny College.
