LATROBE, Pa (Oct. 22)- The Saint Vincent women's swimming cruised to a 179-77 in their first home meet of the season against Penn State-Altoona. The Bearcats won 12 of the 14 events on the afternoon.

Saint Vincent won the first two events of the meet, winning both the 200-yard medley relay and the 1000-yard freestyle event. The relay team of
Lauren Connors,
Sara Basala,
Katie Kozy, and
Erica Steele were the winning team in the 200-yard medley, winning the event with a time of 1:54.32.

Steele also won the 200-yard free style, with a time of 2:04.42, while also winning the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.76. Connors also picked up a couple other first place finishes as well. She won the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:22.50 and also 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:19.20.

Basala scored individual wins as well, in the 100-yard breaststroke and the 200-yard breaststroke as well. Â Kozy recorded another win as well in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 1:02.96, a little over five seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Penn State-Altoona.

In the 1000-yard freestyle event,
Sarah Alexander took home the win for the Bearcats, finishing with a time of 11:43.15. Alexander's finishing time was nine seconds ahead of the second-place finisher from Penn State-Altoona. She also won the 500-yard freestyle event, finishing with a time of 5:42.62.

Abby Leskovansky had a nice day for the Bearcats as well. Leskovansky placed second in the 100-yard backstroke, finishing with a time of 1:07.02, just over one-second behind the first-place finisher from the Lions.

Leskovansky was also a member of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team. She paired up with Steele,
Cara Luallen, and Kozy, finishing with a time of 1:43.29, seven secomds ahead of the second-place team also from SVC. The second-place quartet consisted of Alexander,
Emma Morgan,
Julia Mikita, and
Chloe Fontanazza.

The Bearcats return to action on Friday, October 28 when they travel to Meadville for a PAC meet against Allegheny. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. at Allegheny College.
