Bearcats edged at Allegheny, 133-120

MEADVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 28) – The Bearcat men's swimming team dropped to 1-1 on the season after a narrow 133-120 loss at Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Allegheny College.
 
The Bearcats began the meet by taking second in the 200 medley relay, with Jacob Dzurica, Kris Smith, Colin Spehar and Alex Leskovansky finishing in 1:41.57, less than one second out of the top spot.
 
Nicholas Jackman picked up Saint Vincent's first win of the night, posting a time of 10:38.69 in the 1,000 freestyle. Teammate James Clark took second in the event in 11:47.11.
 
Smith earned a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle in 1:50.81, before Dzurica touched first in the 100 backstroke in 54.76 seconds.
 
The Bearcats would earn runner-up finishes in each of the next three races, with Chris Bush taking second in the 100 breaststroke (1:04.21), Spehar in the 200 butterfly (2:11.54) and Leskovansky in the 100 freestyle (51.28 seconds).
 
Dzurica earned his second win in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.18, just ahead of Smith, who placed second in 2:09.42.
 
After Bush took second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:24.51, Jackman earned his second victory with a time of 5:07.29 in the 500 freestyle. He would then earn a second-place finish in the 400 IM in 4:34.88.
 
The Bearcats closed the night with a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay, as Dzurica, Hayden Klein, Leskovansky and Smith teamed up to produce a time of 1:31.69.
 
Saint Vincent will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 11, taking on PAC foe Grove City College at 6 p.m. in the Frank and Elizabeth Resnik Pool.
