MEADVILLE, Pa. (Oct. 28) – The Saint Vincent women's swimming team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 140-117 victory at Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Allegheny College.
Saint Vincent posted six first-place finishes on the evening, capping the victory with a one-second win in the final event of the night, the 200 freestyle relay.
The Bearcats opened the evening with a second-place finish in the 200 medley relay, as the foursome of
Lauren Connors,
Sara Basala,
Katie Kozy and
Erica Steele finished in 1:53.31, less than a half second out of first place.
Sarah Alexander earned Saint Vincent's first win of the night, touching first in the 1,000 freestyle in a time of 11:36.57 to win by a comfortable 20-second margin. Teammate Emma Morgan placed third in the eveng in 12:22.19.
In the 200 freestyle, Saint Vincent boasted the second-through-fourth-place finishers, with Kozy finishing in 2:07.57,
Elise Debrot in 2:15.43 and
Cara Luallen in 2:17.78.
Connors picked up the individual win in the 100 backstroke in 1:00.80, with
Julia Mikita taking third in 1:07.68.
The Bearcats went 2-3-4 in the 100 breaststroke, with Basala posting a time of 1:15.70, Maddy Cassidy 1:16.00 and Emma Martz 1:17.88.
Brooke Himich was the runner-up in the 200 butterfly in 2:40.33, while Steele finished second in the 50 freestyle in 25.30 seconds, just ahead of Leskovansky, who turned in a time of 26.31 seconds.
Steele and Leskovansky placed second and third, respectively, in the 100 freestyle, before the Bearcats occupied the top two spots in the 200 backstroke. Connors earned her second win of the evening in a time of 2:20.06, with Mikita taking second in 2:25.97.
Basala (2:45.53) and Cassidy (2:46.20) went second and third in the 200 breast, while Alexander picked up her second win of the night with a time of 5:41.57 in the 500 freestyle.
Kozy won the 100 butterfly in 1:01.51, before Mikita took second in the 400 IM in 5:18.74.
The Bearcats then closed the meet and sealed the win with a first-place finish in the 200 free relay, as Steele, Martz, Leskovansky and Connors teamed up for a time of 1:41.58.
Saint Vincent will now have a two-week layoff before returning to action on Friday, Nov. 11, welcoming PAC foe Grove City College to the Resnik Pool for a 6 p.m. dual.
