LATROBE, Pa (Oct. 8)- The Saint Vincent men's soccer team hosted defending PAC champion, Bethany on Saturday afternoon, where the Bearcats played to a 1-1 draw with the Bison.

Bethany got off to a very fast start on the offensive end. Sylvanus Foday scored on a header less than three minutes into the game, coming on an assist from Lucas Puebla, giving the Bison the very early 1-0 lead.

The Bison continued to control the majority of the first half in their offensive zone. Bethany had multiple opportunities to score in the rest of the first half, but the Bearcats defense held strong limiting the Bison to just the one goal in the half.

The score remained 1-0 Bethany heading into the halftime break. The Bearcats were out shot by the Bison by a margin of 8-2 in the first half. Both teams had two corner kicks a piece in the half. Saint Vincent committed eight fouls compared to just two by the Bison.

In the second half, it was the Bearcats who controlled the ball in their offensive end for the majority of the half. Just as Bethany did in the first half, Saint Vincent scored early in the second half to tie the game up.
David Rahaman evened the score up for the Bearcats at 1-1.

About 12-minutes into the half,
Jose Hurtado lined up for a free for SVC, and the ball glided past the Bethany defense right to Rahaman who netted the goal.

Saint Vincent continued their momentum after the Rahaman goal, getting a couple more opportunities to take the lead and solidify a win, but just as Saint Vincent did in the first half, the Bethany defense remained strong, preserving the 1-1 draw.

In the draw the Bison outshot the Bearcats by a 16-7 margin, including four shots on goal for Bethany compared to two for SVC. Saint Vincent compiled three corner kicks in the match, compared to six from the Bison. The Bearcats committed ten fouls throughout the game, where Bethany committed eight fouls.

Sean Knipp recorded two shots in the draw for Saint Vincent.
Eduardo Richa added one shot on goal for SVC and
Jalani Campbell,
Antonio Mendes, and
Cesar Guerrero all had one shot a piece, each of them coming off the bench.
Shane Piper played all 90-mintues in net, making three saves, while allowing the lone Bison goal.

The Bearcats return to action on Wednesday, October 12 when they travel to Greenville, PA to take on Thiel in a PAC match. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.
