Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Bearcats roll past Cougars, improve to 10-1

LATROBE, Pa. (April 25) – The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team took control early and never looked back in its 15-6 win over Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Chatham University on the steamy UPMC Field Turf.

The Bearcats (10-1, 4-1 PAC) scored five goals over the first six minutes of the opening quarter and continued to add onto their lead, as they extended their winning streak to four games and improved to a perfect 5-0 on their home turf.

As has been the case throughout the season, the Saint Vincent offense had a host of contributors, with eight different players registering at least one goal and nine players scoring at least one point.

Tyler Condrasky scored a game-high seven points, on four goals and three assists, while Caleb Hawkins (four goals) and Jordan Billet (three goals, one assist) each tallied four points.

Andrew Coholich scored one goal with two assists, while Brady Beard, Jacob Visali, Jacob Crumling and Matthew Cassidy each found the net once.

Noah Sperling saved 16 of 23 shots in goal to earn the win, while Beard gathered seven ground balls, Ethan Cavin five and Crumling four. Cavin also recorded two caused turnovers.

Condrasky got the Bearcats on the board early, scoring off an assist from Billet just 80 seconds into regulation. The Cougars responded less than a minute later with the equalizer, but the Bearcats would then pour it on, as Beard, Cassidy, Hawkins and Crumling each scored in a three-minute span to push SVC out to a 5-1 lead with 8:43 left in the first half.

The Cougars scored the final goal of the first quarter to cut the gap to 5-2, but the second frame belonged to the Bearcats. Three minutes into the quarter, Condrasky netted his second goal of the day, before Hawkins connected on a man-up goal at the midpoint of the quarter and Coholich scored with just 15 seconds left in the half to give the Bearcats a commanding 8-2 lead at the intermission.

A minute into the third quarter, Visalli scored off of an assist from Coholich, before Billet recorded SVC's second man-up goal of the day with 4:57 left in the third to up the lead to 10-2.

The Cougars looked to mount a comeback, scoring four times over the final four minutes of the third quarter and opening three minutes of the fourth to cut the gap to 11-6, but the Bearcats answered with another quick flurry of goals. With 8:35 left, Condrasky scored his fourth of the day, before Billet found the net just 40 seconds later. After Hawkins' fourth goal, with 6:06 left, pushed the lead to 14-6, Billet closed out the day's scoring with 4:30 left to seal the nine-goal win.

Saint Vincent out-shot the Cougars (4-11, 2-4 PAC) 43-30 for the game, while the Bearcat defense held the Cougars to 0-for-6 on man-up opportunities.

The Bearcats will now have a quick turnaround before continuing their busy week with a 7 p.m. PAC bout at Thiel College on Wednesday, April 27.
