SVC overpowers Thiel for fifth straight win

GREENVILLE, Pa. (April 27) – The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team produced its highest offensive output of the season, improving to 11-1 overall and 5-1 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference with a 22-3 win at Thiel.
 
Thirteen different Bearcats scored at least one goal, while SVC out-shot Thiel a staggering 65-23.
 
Jordan Billet led the way with seven points, on four goals and three assists, while Jacob Crumling recorded a career-high five points, on three goals and two helpers. Caleb Hawkins was a third Bearcat to record a hat-trick, scoring three goals, while Carter Haid and Tyler Condrasky each scored two goals.
 
Andrew Coholich turned in a four-point night on one goal and three assists, while Matthew Cassidy and Justin Wodarek each scored three points, on one goal and two helpers. Max Schuler was a ninth Bearcat to turn in a multi-point game, with one goal and one assist.
 
Brady Beard, Jacob Visalli, Alec Richard and James Carden also found the net once in the win.
 
Defensively, three players saw time in goal for SVC, with Noah Sperling recording three saves in 11 minutes; Nick Carter one stop in 20 minutes; and Colby Missel seven saves in 29 minutes.
 
Beard, who went a solid 14-for-16 on faceoffs, gathered a team-best nine ground balls, while Colin Cooper went 8-for-12 in faceoffs and tallied four ground balls. A.J. Bricker and Brody McMahon each totaled three caused turnovers, while Bricker totaled six ground balls. Benjamin Wohlin added three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
 
After Thiel scored the game's first goal five minutes into play, the Bearcats erupted with eight straight goals to close the first quarter. Billet scored three first quarter goals, while Crumling and Hawkins scored two each.
 
SVC would again out-score Thiel 8-1 over the second frame to take a commanding 16-2 lead at the intermission. The eight goals came from eight different players, with Condrasky, Beard, Richard, Billet, Crumling, Coholich, Cassidy and Hawkins all finding the net.
 
The Bearcats continued to roll throughout the second half, outscoring Thiel 6-1 over the final 30 minutes. Condrasky, Wodark, Haid and Carden scored in the third, while Visalli and Haid added fourth quarter goals to close out the game's scoring.
 
The Bearcats will be back in action on Saturday, April 30, closing out the regular season with an 11 a.m. matchup against visiting Franciscan University on Senior Day at UPMC Field.
