Bearcats fall to Bethany at home

LATROBE, Pa (Sept. 20)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team hosted Bethany in a non-conference matchup, where the Bearcats fell 3-0 to the visiting Bison.
 
Set scores were, 25-17, 25-12, and 25-20.
 
Carly Augustine finished with a team high, six kills, while also adding one block, six digs, and four assists. Lauren Fox finished the match with five kills and one block for the Bearcats. Vivian Poach tallied 15 assists and Stacie Ramos added 16 digs in the loss for Saint Vincent.
 
In the first set, SVC took control early, as the Bearcats took an early 5-1 lead in the match. The Bison bounced back, going on a quick 7-1 run, taking an 8-6 advantage. Saint Vincent responded with a 5-0 run of their own, regaining the lead at 11-8.
 
The Bison then took control, going on a 11-4 run, to take a 19-15 lead in the set. Bethany then scored six of the next eight points, to take the set 25-17.
 
In the second set, Bethany was in full control from the beginning. Bethany quickly opened up to an 8-2 lead in the set, destined to take a 2-0 lead in the match. The Bison then went on a 11-4 run, opening the set up to a 19-6 lead. The Bearcats battled the last few points, but it wasn't enough as Bethany won the set 25-12.
 
In the third set, Bethany got off to a hot start once again. The Bison opened up the set to a quick 9-4 lead. The Bearcats responded, going on a 4-0 run, cutting the lead to 9-8. The teams continued to trade the next several points as the set was tied 19-19. Bethany then went on a 6-1 run, winning the set 25-20, and closing out the match, 3-0.
 
As a team Saint Vincent had 26 kills, 21 assists, and 57 digs, while also adding three blocks throughout the match as well.
