LOCK HAVEN, Pa. (Sept. 24) – Facing foes from all three NCAA classifications, the Saint Vincent women's cross country team turned in a strong showing at the Lock Haven University Invitational.
Led by a strong quartet of freshmen, the Bearcats, the Bearcats placed 14th in the team standings with a score of 406 points.
"Our women continue to impress each week," said Saint Vincent head coach
Kevin Wanichko. "They are a young group but continue to prove that the stage is not too big. They held their own with some very strong regional competition this week and posted some of our program's top times."
Kristen Prince again led the way for SVC, placing 34th in a field of 285 runners with a career-best time of 22:36, also the 22nd-fastest 6-kilometer performance in Bearcat program history.
Miranda Cincotta was SVC's second finisher, placing 50th in 22:52, while fellow rookies
Lily Murphy and
Cassy Lanza placed 97th and 119th with times of 23:48 and 24:07, respectively. All three were also personal records.
Lauren Brennan rounded out Saint Vincent's scoring five with a time of 24:46, just five seconds off of a personal mark, to take 165th.
Joy Pontzer recorded a time of 25:41,
Grace Scoville 26:29,
Laura Heinzeroth 28:21 and
Ruth Milne 30:20.
The Bearcats will be back on the road on Saturday, Oct. 1, making the trip to Lansing, Michigan, to take part in the 2022 NCAA Division-III National Preview Meet.
