WASHINGTON, Pa (Sept. 24)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team traveled to Washington and Jefferson, where they defeated the Presidents in four sets, winning their second match in three days.

Saint Vincent won the first set, 25-23, lost the second set 25-20, and won the last two sets, by scores of 25-17 and 25-23.

Luciana Polk led the way for Saint Vincent, scoring 15 kills, while also picking up 16 digs.
Kaelyn Staples added 12 kills, and
Vivian Poach had seven kills, 23 assists, and two service aces.
Stacie Ramos picked up 24 digs and freshman,
Sani Jones had 17 assists in the win for Saint Vincent.

In the first set, Washington and Jefferson held an early 5-2 lead, getting off to a fast start at home. SVC responded, going on a quick 4-0 run to take a 6-5 lead in the set. The teams traded the next several points, as the match was tied, 12-12. W&J scored five of the next seven points, clinging to a 17-14 lead in the set.

The Bearcats answered the call once again, going on another 4-0 run to regain the lead 18-17. Saint Vincent continued to attack, as they increased their lead to two at 21-19, destined to win the first set. However, W&J wouldn't go away, as the President's once again tied the set at 23-23. The Bearcats then scored the next two points to take the set, 25-23, on a kill by
Haley Stormer and service ace by
Lindsey Kocjancic.

The Bearcats continued their momentum from the first set, as they got off to a hot start early in the second set, holding an early 6-3 lead. W&J responded, scoring the next four points, taking a 7-6 lead in the set. The Presidents pushed to build their lead in the next several points, taking a 16-13 lead in the set.

Saint Vincent answered once again though, with a 4-0 run, regaining the lead at 17-16. Washington and Jefferson responded with a run of their own, going on a 6-0 run to take a 22-17 lead in the set, looking to tie the match at 1-1. Both teams traded the last six points of the set, as W&J won the set, 25-20, tying the match up 1-1.

SVC and W&J traded the first few points of the third set, as it was tied 5-5. The Bearcats scored six of the next seven points, taking an 11-6 lead in the set. Saint Vincent continued to build their lead in the next several points, increasing their lead to 20-13 in the set. The Bearcats continued to stay on the attack, winning five of the next nine points to win the set, 25-17, ending the set with one kill from Polk and two kills, back-to-back from Staples.
In the fourth set, it was very tightly contested as Saint Vincent was pushing for the 3-1 match win, and W&J was fighting to fourth a fifth set. The teams traded the first several points, as the set was tied 14-14. The back-and-forth set would continue, as Saint Vincent held a slight 20-18 advantage.

Washington and Jefferson responded, as the Presidents scored the next two points to tie the fourth set up at 20-20. The Bearcats and Presidents continued to trade points, as the set was tied 22-22. The Bearcats scored three of the last four points on three kills by Polk, taking the set 25-23 and the match, 3-1.

The Bearcats scored 55 kills as a team, while also picking up seven service aces, five blocks, and 50 assists, and 80 digs.

Saint Vincent returns to action Tuesday, September 27, when they travel to take on Chatham for a non-conference match. The match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at Chatham University.
