NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Jan. 21)- The Saint Vincent men's swim team traveled to Westminster for a conference meet, where the Bearcats fell in the meet by a final score of 150-108.

Nicholas Jackman recorded the Bearcats first win of the afternoon, winning the 1000-yard freestyle event. Jackman won the event, swimming a time of 10:27.89, eight seconds ahead of the Dawson Yocum of Westminster, who finished in second place.

Jackman also won the 500-yard freestyle race for the Bearcats, swimming a time of 5:05.13, once again finishing just ahead of Yocum who finished in second place.

Alex Leskovansky had a nice day for SVC as well. Leskovansky finished in first place in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, while also picking up a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle event. In the 50-yard freestyle Leskovansky finished less than one tenth of a second ahead of Yocum.

In the 100-yard freestyle he swam a time of 50.43, which was one second faster than Kevin MacMurdo of Westminster who finished in second place.

Kris Smith was big for the Bearcats as well. Smith recorded first place finishes in the 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard backstroke, and 200-yard IM. In the 100-yard backstroke, he swam a time of 58.35, which was a little over one second faster than Ronald Whitehouse of Westminster. In the 200-yard backstroke he finished with a time of 2:06.51 and in the 200-yard IM, he swam a time of 2:07.20.

Colin Spehar also recorded a couple of individual wins as well for SVC. Spehar won the 200-yard butterfly and 100-yard butterfly events. In the 200-yard butterfly he recorded a time of 2:08.26 which was three seconds faster than Stephen Adametz of Westminster who finished in second place. In the 100-yard butterfly Spehard once again finished slightly ahead of Adametz to win the event.

Chris Bush added two second place finishes on the afternoon as well. Bush finished in second place in both the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-yard breaststroke. In both events he finished slightly behind Apostoli Kallaur of Westminster who won both of those events.

The Bearcats will enjoy a brief hiatus before they host a non-conference meet against Lycoming College on Saturday, January 28. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in the Frank and Elizabeth Resnick Pool.
