LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 14)- The Saint Vincent men's soccer team fell in a tight match to Franciscan by a final score of 1-0 at a rainy UPMC Field on Saturday evening.

After an hour-long lightning delay to start the game, the Barons capitalized on a late second half goal to lead them to the road PAC victory over the Bearcats.

Kameron Rock took the loss in net for SVC, allowing the lone goal, while also recording six saves as well. Offensively,
Eduardo Richa and
Antonio Mendes both recorded two shots on goal, with Richa taking five shots total and Mendes taking four.

Giueseppe Loiacono,
Andres Mateos Carrion,
Mattia Speretta, and
Netochi Ibe all recorded shots in the loss for SVC as well.

The Bearcats outshot Franciscan 18-12, including 8-7 on shots on goal, but were unable to find the back of the net for the second straight match. Franciscan made eight saves in comparison to the Bearcats six saves.

The Barons also recorded four corner kicks to SVC's three. Fouls were 17-14 with Saint Vincent picking up the 17.

It was an evenly played first half in the challenging weather conditions as both teams had scoring opportunities, but neither were able to capitalize as the match went to the half tied 0-0.

Both teams recorded seven shots in the opening half. Rock made three saves for the Bearcats in the half, while Franciscan recorded four. Corner kicks in the half were 3-2 in favor of the Barons. SVC committed nine fouls in comparison to Franciscan's eight.

It was a different story early in the second half as Franciscan came out on the attack. Seven minutes into the half, Ryan Miller scored what would be the game winner. The goal for Miller was his fifth of the season to lead the Barons to the 1-0 win.

The Bearcats will now travel to Allegheny for a PAC matchup against the Gators on Wednesday, October 18. The match is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. in Meadville.
