LATROBE, Pa. (Oct. 27)- The Saint Vincent women's swim team earned their first victory of the 2023-24 season with a convincing 149-75 win against Allegheny at Resnik Pool.

Abby Leskovansky led the way for the Bearcats, picking up two individual wins on the evening. Leskovansky won the 50-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 25.62, two seconds faster than Allegheny's, Josephine Reiter who finished in second place.

Leskovansky also won the 200-yard backstroke for the Bearcats in a time of 2:22.04, just under one second faster than Katya Pryschenko of the Gators.

She was also part of the winning 200-yard freestyle relay team for SVC, teaming up with
Cecilia Hickin,
Sarah Alexander, and
Emma Martz to pick up the final win of the night for Saint Vincent. Hickin also won the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 1:12.67, one second faster than her teammate,
Elyssa Bognar who finished in second place, while Martz recorded a win in the 100-yard freestyle (58.76).

Alexander had a huge night for the Bearcats as well, recording two individual wins as well on top of the 200-yard freestyle relay win. She recorded first place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:52.50) and the 500-yard freestyle events (5:49.64).

Valerie Clabaugh had a nice performance against the Gators, winning the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:14.09 and finishing second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:43.73, one second off of Josephine Reiter who won the event for Allegheny.

Rachel Hutchinson won the 400-yard IM for Saint Vincent, swimming a time of 5:12.38 to cruise to the 20-second victory over her teammate
Lily Holsey who finished in second place in the event.

The Bearcats return to action tomorrow, Saturday, October 28 when they travel to Penn State-Altoona for a non-conference meet. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
