ALTOONA, Pa. (Oct. 28)- The Saint Vincent men's swim team fell in a tight match at Penn State-Altoona this afternoon by a final score of 139-122.
Just as he did in the Bearcats Friday night home meet,
Jacob Dzurica led the way for Saint Vincent. Dzurica won three individual events, winning the 100-yard backstroke, 50-yard freestyle, and 200-yard backstroke events.
In the 100 backstroke, he swam a time 54.88 to win the event, while in the 50-yard freestyle he finished in 21.61 seconds to cruise to the victory. In the 200 backstroke he finished with a time of 2:05.07, six seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
Dzurica was also part of the 200-yard medley relay team which one for the Bearcats. He teamed up with
Liam Randolph,
Colin Spehar, and
Alex Leskovansky in the event.
Randolph on the other hand, secured an individual win in the 100-yard breaststroke and two second place finishes, coming in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard IM. In his victory in the breaststroke, he swam a time of 1:01.63 and in the 200 breaststroke he raced a time of 2:17.23, while swimming a time of 2:10.05 in the IM.
Spehar picked up two solo wins as well for Saint Vincent, winning the 100-yard and 200-yard butterfly events. In the 100-yard butterfly he raced a time of 55.21 and in the 200-yard butterfly he swam a 2:10.01, three seconds better than the second-place finisher from the Lions.
Nickolas Jackman tallied a couple of second place finishes for SVC as well, racing a 10:33.98 in the 1000-yard freestyle and 5:10.08 in the 500-yard freestyle. He also finished third in the 200-yard IM (2:10.74).
The Bearcats return to action on Saturday, November 4 when they travel to York College for a meet. The meet is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
