NEWVILLE, Pa. (Nov. 18) – Saint Vincent College senior
Tim Patterson closed out the 2023 cross country season by becoming the first Bearcat male to race at the NCAA Division III National Championship in 10 years.
Patterson capped off his stellar senior season at the NCAA event, hosted by Dickinson College on a sun-splashed course at Big Spring High School, recording a time of 26 minutes, 40 seconds in the 8-kilometer race to place 246th in an elite field.
It capped off a memorable 2023 season for Patterson, who turned in six top-10 finishes in eight events, including a runner-up finish at the Rowan Inter-Regional Border Battle, a third-place finish at the Presidents' Athletic Conference Championship and a ninth-place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship to earn his berth at the national race.
Ethan Gregg of Loras won the individual NCAA championship with a time of 24:02, an 18-second margin over runner-up Christian Patzka of Wisconsin-Whitewater. In the team standings, Pomona-Pitzer won the NCAA Division III Championship by just one point over Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
Patterson and the Bearcats will now set their sights on the 2023-24 indoor track and field season, which commences on Dec. 1 at the Youngstown State Invitational.
