NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (Nov. 4)- The Saint Vincent women's volleyball team concluded their 2023 regular season with a 3-0 defeat at Westminster.

The Bearcats fell by set scores of 25-21, 25-17, and 25-13.

Lauren Fox led the way for Saint Vincent with 11 kills.
Kaelyn Staples and
Luciana Polk each had six kills in the loss as well.
Madie Eagler led the way with 23 assists for the Bearcats, while
Stacie Ramos recorded 19 digs.

In the first set. It was back-and-forth early on as both teams traded the first several points finding themselves tied at 11-11 and 15-15. The Bearcats and Titans continued to trade points as the set was still tied at 20-20. Westminster went on to outscore SVC by a 5-1 margin over the final six points, winning the set (25-21), taking a 1-0 lead over Saint Vincent.

It was all Westminster in set two as the Bearcats never held a lead in the set. The Titans opened up to a 4-0 lead and increased that lead to 11-1 in the middle portion of the set. The Bearcats cut into the lead cutting it to three at 15-12 but it wasn't enough.

Westminster went back up by ten points at 24-14. The Bearcats had another late push in the set scoring three straight on two kills by Fox and a service ace from Eagler cutting the lead to 24-17. The Titans scored the final point of the set to win set two (25-17), taking a 2-0 lead overall.

The Bearcats fell in the third set as well. SVC held a lead at 2-1 in the set but after Westminster answered to take the lead at 3-2 and they never lost the lead in the match again. Westminster increased their lead slightly at 13-11 and then significantly at 20-12.

Westminster scored five of the final six to take the third set (25-13), winning the match, 3-0.

The loss eliminates the Bearcats from playoff contention, concluding their season with a 9-14 record overall and 3-7 record in the Presidents Athletic Conference.
