NEW CONCORD, Ohio (Mar. 15)- The Saint Vincent men's lacrosse team won their second straight one goal game. The Bearcats defeated Muskingum on the road by a final score of 7-6 moving the Bearcats to 7-0 on the season.

The Bearcats held a 4-1 lead at the half and were outscored 5-3 in the second half but hung on for the one goal win to remain unbeaten.

Caleb Hawkins led the way for Saint Vincent, notching four points in the win, scoring three goals and picking up one assist.
Andrew Coholich and
Jonathan Nagy both recorded two points, with one goal and one assist each.
Jacob Visalli and
Max Schuler each scored goals for the Bearcats in the win as well.

Matthew Cassidy tallied a team-high five ground balls, while also causing one turnover.
RJ Kenna added five ground balls as well and Coholich had four for the Bearcats.
Noah Sperling got the win in net for SVC making five saves in the Bearcats seventh straight win to open the season.

Hawkins got the scoring started in a first half dominated by Saint Vincent. Hawkins scored just short of three minutes into the game to give Saint Vincent the early 1-0 lead. Nagy followed Hawkins goal exactly two minutes late with his first of two goals to increase the SVC lead to 2-0 heading into the second quarter.

The Bearcats remained on the attack in the second quarter as Visalli socred on the man up on an assist from Hawkins with 9:03 remaining in the quarter, increasing the Saint Vincent lead to 3-0. The Bearcats weren't done yet as Coholich scored less than a minute later to move the SVC lead to 4-0 and the Bearcats were in full control.

Muskingum's Maxwell Pezzot scored with four minutes to go in the half to get the Muskies on the board as Saint Vincent held a 4-1 lead at halftime.

The early portions of the third quarter began to Muskingum. The Muskies scored two goals in the first nine minutes of the quarter, holding the Bearcats scoreless during that time to cut the Saint Vincent lead to 4-3, but the Bearcats answered.

Hawkins scored a pair of goals, one coming on an assist from Nagy, in less than two minutes of game action to increase the SVC lead back up to 6-3. Schuler then scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal on an assist from Coholich with nine seconds remaining in the quarter as SVC carried the 7-3 lead into the fourth quarter.

In the fourth quarter it was all Muskingum. The Muskies scored three goals, shutting the Bearcats out in the quarter but their comeback attempt fell one goal short as Saint Vincent came away with the 7-6 win on the road.

The Bearcats totaled 40 shots compared to just 23 from Muskingum. Saint Vincent was also a strong 18-19 on clear attempts, while also scooping up 35 ground balls in the win.

The Bearcats will conclude non-conference play in their next matchup as they travel to Westminster, Maryland for a match against McDaniel on Saturday, March 18. Face off is scheduled for 1 p.m. at McDaniel.
