WAYNESBURG, Pa. (Mar. 22)- The Saint Vincent women's lacrosse scored a big 23-12 win after a career day from senior,
Caroline Mullineaux in a non-conference matchup at Waynesburg.

The win for Saint Vincent (4-1) is their fourth in a row, moving them to 4-1 overall. The match on Wednesday counted as a non-conference match as SVC and Waynesburg (1-3) will battle it out later this year in a game that will count towards their conference record.

Mullineaux scored a career high eleven points in the Bearcats win on Wednesday night. She recorded a career high seven goals and four assists in the game against the Yellow Jackets.

Freshman,
Carolina Walters had a strong performance for Saint Vincent as well, tallying eight points, scoring four goals and assisting on four goals as well.
Kaylee Bandow added six points in the offensive outburst as well, putting her just one shy of 100-career points. Bandow scored three goals and assisted on three goals as well.

Hannah-Marie Starner scored four goals and
Melanie Seefeldt tallied four points as well with two goals and two assists.
Gabby Salandro added three points for SVC, scoring one goal and dishing out two assists as well.
Maggie Edwards,
Luciana Polk, and
Jessica Persin all recorded one point in the win as well. Edwards and Polk each scored goals, while Persin assisted on a goal.

Bailey Nicely picked up the win in net for SVC, playing all 60-minutes, making seven saves for the Bearcats.

It was a high scoring first quarter as the teams combined for eight goals in the quarter, with each scoring four times. Waynesburg got on the board first with a goal less than two-minutes into the contest, giving them a 1-0 lead, but the Bearcats answered quickly.

Seefeldt got the Bearcats on the board about 25 seconds later on assist from Mullineaux to tie the game up at 1-1. Waynesburg answered with another goal about 35 seconds later to regain the lead at 2-1. The back-and-forth quarter continued as Walters scored for the Bearcats less than two-minutes later on an assist from Salandro to tie the game up at 2-2.

Waynesburg regained the lead right back once again as the Yellow Jackets scored to take a 3-2 lead with 8:33 remaining in the quarter. Just as they did on the first two goals, Saint Vincent responded with a goal of their own, as Edwards scored on an assist from Walters as SVC tied it at 3-3.

With the game still tied, Seefeldt scored her second goal of the quarter for SVC on another assist from Mullineaux as Saint Vincent took their first lead of the game at 4-3 with 3:01 remaining in the quarter. Waynesburg answered this time, tying the game up at 4-4 with a goal heading into the second quarter.

In the second quarter, the offensive outburst continued as eight combined goals were also scored in the quarter with the Bearcats outscoring the Yellow Jackets 5-3.

Saint Vincent scored the first four goals of the second quarter, with all four goals being unassisted. Mullineaux scored first and Walters and Bandow scored, before another Mullineaux goal pushed SVC out ahead 8-4.

The Yellow Jackets scored the next two goals to cut into the Saint Vincent lead at 8-6 with 4:59 remaining in the quarter. Mullineaux answered with her third goal of the quarter to push the Saint Vincent lead to 9-6 but Waynesburg answered late in the quarter with a goal of their own to make the score 9-7 in favor of the Bearcats heading into the half.

SVC broke the game open in the third quarter. The Bearcats outscored the Yellow Jackets 8-2 in the quarter. Saint Vincent once again started the quarter out strong, scoring the first six goals of the quarter. Starner scored three of those six goals, with Walters, Mullineaux, and Polk scoring the other three as Saint Vincent took a 15-7 lead.

The Yellow Jackets played the Bearcats even over the remaining 3:46 of the quarter as each team netted two goals. Walters and Mullineaux each scored their second goals of the quarter as Saint Vincent led 17-9 heading into the final quarter.

In the fourth quarter it was all Saint Vincent as the ten-goal mercy rule clock ran for the majority of the quarter. Starner and Salandro scored, both coming on assists from Mullineaux to give SVC a 20-9 lead. Waynesburg scored the next three goals to cut the Saint Vincent lead to 20-12 but the Bearcats answered scoring the final three goals of the game. Bandow scored two and Mullineaux scored one to close out the 23-12 win for the Bearcats.

Saint Vincent outshot the Yellow Jackets 42-25 in the contest, including 33 shots on goal to just 19 on goal from Waynesburg. Saint Vincent was a strong 17-22 on clears and won 21 draw controls, compared to 17 from the Yellow Jackets. Waynesburg recorded five free position shots, compared to Saint Vincent's four free position shots.

The Bearcats have a quick turnaround as they play host to Mount Aloysius, tomorrow, Thusday, March 23 for another non-conference matchup. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. at UPMC Field in Latrobe.
